Mr. Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali- Chairman

Mr. Ali is the Chairman of BRAC Bank Ltd. and the Managing Director of BRAC Enterprises. He served at different levels in local and international banking sector. Prior to joining BRAC, he was the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank. Mr. Ali also served as Country Head and General Manager of Grindlays Bangladesh in March 1997. In July 2000, following the takeover of ANZ Grindlays by Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Ali was appointed the CEO of the Standard Chartered Group in Bangladesh, heading both Standard Chartered Bank and Standard Chartered Grindlays Bank. His banking experience includes stints in India, United Kingdom and Australia. Mr. Ali was elected a Fellow of the Bangladesh Institute of Bankers in 2001.

Mr. Ali is a director of the boards of several organizations including the Governing Board of PKSF and is also a member of the Global Steering Committee of the ‘Performance Based Grants Initiative’ of the International Finance Corporation. He is a member of the Better Business Forum and the Technical Advisory Committee of Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund. At present he is the Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Association of Banks.
He received a number of awards including C. R. Das and Atish Dipanker Gold Medal for Banking in 1995 and 1999 and ‘CEO of the Year’ awarded by Junior Chamber International, Bangladesh and Bangladesh Management Institute in 2000 and 2001 respectively.

Mr. Ali received his B.A. (Honours) and M.A. in Economics from Dhaka University and was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1951.

Mr. Saiful Islam – Vice Chairman

Mr. Islam is a Vice Chairman of BRAC EPL Investments Limited, and the Senior Vice President of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). He was also Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Union Capital Limited (UCL), a brokerage house, merchant bank and leasing company in Bangladesh. Prior to UCL, Mr. Islam was head of Operations of Peregrine Capital Limited (PCL), Bangladesh Branch Office, Manager, Securities Operations, of PCL and Manager, Settlements and Client Services, Custodial Services of Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh. He has over 17 years of global and local experience in key business and support roles.

Mr. A.E.A. Muhaimen – Director

Mr. A.E.A. Muhaimen is board director of BRAC EPL Investments Limited and the Managing Director of BRAC Bank Limited. Prior to joining BRAC Bank Limited, he was Head of Consumer Finance & Transactional Services, Retail Bank of National Bank of Fujairah, Dubai, UAE and he was Deputy Managing Director of The City Bank Limited. He was also Chief Operating Officer of ANZ Grindlays & Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh. He has over 20 years of global experience in Asia, Australia & Middle East including proven senior management ability in key business and support roles. He has a proven track record of initiating and setting up start up business operations in new locations. He is a skilled Manager for business process re-engineering and distribution channels. He also has success record in end to end integration of business and operations area of two large MNC Banks in Bangladesh as the Chief Operating Officer & Country Integration Manager. He is formally trained in Strategic Leadership, Business Goal Management, Project Management Methodologies, Business Process Reengineering, Facilitative Leadership and Human Resources Management.

Mr. Muhaimen received his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Mr. Syed Mahbubur Rahman – Director

Syed Mahbubur Rahman joined BRAC Bank Limited as Deputy Managing Director recently. Prior to joining BRAC Bank, he served Prime Bank as its Deputy Managing Director. Mr. Mahbub has been working in the banking industry for about 20 years, with a wealth of knowledge and experience primarily in the corporate banking business. He started his career by joining Saudi Bangladesh Agricultural and Industrial Investment Co. (SABINCO). Subsequently he had successful stints with IDLC, ANZ Grindlays Bank, Standard Chartered, and Citibank N.A. in senior management roles. During his long banking career he underwent various training courses and participated in seminars and workshops on different aspects of banking held in the country and abroad, and gained excellent exposure in all modern concepts of banking.
Mr. Mahbub received his MBA from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.

Mr. Nanda Dulal Saha, ACA - Director
Mr. N D Saha, is currently serving as Associate Director of Internal Audit of BRAC, the largest Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in the world. Prior to joining BRAC, Mr Saha worked with Rahman Rahman Huq, Chartered Accountants, a member firm of KPMG International which is one of the “big 4" Accounting Firms in the world, in Audit and Assurance Services for about four and half years.

Mr. N D Saha is currently member of Quality Assurance Board, Technical and Research Committee, Review Committee for Published Accounts and Reports, Information & Communication Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh. He has altogether more than seven and half years of working experience in audit, internal control and risk management services. He is also an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors of Bangladesh.

Mr. Saha completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting from National University.

The Honorable Alexander Andrew McDonnell Fraser - Director

BRAC EPL was established under the guidance of The Honorable Alexander Andrew McDonnell Fraser, the former Chief Executive Officer of Baring Securities until 1996. Since his retirement from his former position, Mr. Fraser has been the Chief Executive of Andrew Fraser Management, his proprietary investment advisory firm, as well as being a Principal of a London-based Asian hedge fund. Mr. Fraser has long been associated with establishing and supervising Asian brokerage and corporate finance operations. Educated in Eton and Oxford, Mr. Fraser has worked for Kleinwort Benson, London (1968 - 1970); Vickers Da Costa, London (1970 - 1976); Sun Hung Kai Securities, London (1977 - 1983); Henderson Crosswaithe, London (1983 - 1984); Barings Securities, London (1984 - 1996); and Nava Securities (1996 -1997). Mr. Fraser is a British citizen.

Mr. Mark Reinecke - Director

Mr. Mark Reinecke was the former Managing Director of Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities for Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and, prior to that, the Senior Vice President of Asset Plus Securities Company Limited, the leading local merchant bank in Thailand. Educated in Law at London School of Economics, with a specialty in Islamic Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies, Mr. Reinecke has over 20 years of experience as an international stockbroker in Asia, having started his career with Baring Securities.

Mr. Khaled Yusuf Farazi- Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Farazi has recently joined as Chief Executive Officer of BRAC EPL Investments Limited. He is a very well known professional in the field of corporate finance and Capital Markets in Bangladesh as well as international markets, having more than decade of wide ranging experience gained in debt arrangement and financial management. Prior to joining BRAC EPL, he worked for seven years at Standard Chartered Capital Markets with particular focus on Syndication and project finance across various sectors including power, telecom, textile, refineries, food and beverage, and Agro-based industries. Mr. Khaled has a BA Honours from London Guildhall University and MBA from Oxford Brookes University.

Mr. Aminul Haque, CFA – Head of Capital Markets

In his role as Head of Capital Markets, Mr. Haque oversees the firms' sales, research and product development efforts. Prior to joining BRAC EPL, Mr. Haque worked as the Head of Research for Wolverton Capital Markets, a mid-sized Canadian investment banking firm. Prior to becoming Head of research, he worked as an equities analyst for energy infrastructure and services companies. Previously, Mr. Haque worked for MasterCard International in New York as a Director of Risk Management. He also worked for PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Washington DC as a Management Consultant working with US Government Sponsored Enterprises in the mortgage finance industry.

Mr. Haque holds an MBA degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Mr. Haque holds the CFA charter and is a member of the New York Society for Securities Analysts (NYSSA), The CFA Institute, and Canadian Securities Institute (CSI).

Mr. Mesbah Uddin Khan – Head of Portfolio Management

Mr. Mesbah Uddin Khan joined BRAC EPL as Head of Portfolio Management with responsibility to run the margin loan facilities for the secondary market Investors. He developed new products including “Cap Edge” Non-Discretionary Portfolio Account and LEAP Discretionary Portfolio Account for the portfolio clients. He has over 13 years of experience in the Bangladesh Capital Market and different Financial Services Industry, being a former Manager in the Merchant Banking division at IDLC Finance Limited. He is also a former Manager in the Data Management Division and the Sales & Trading Division at Securities Consultants Limited. He holds comprehensive knowledge of Securities Law and Regulatory Compliances on trading and margin loan as well as merchant banking Operation. He obtained Masters degree in Finance & Banking from the University of Dhaka and Bachelors degree in Commerce, Finance & Banking from the University of Dhaka.

Ms. Taufica Erfan – Head of HR & Corporate Affairs

Ms. Taufica has joined BRAC EPL Investments Limited recently. Prior to joining BRAC EPL, she worked with the International Labor Organization (ILO), the United Nations and before that she was at DHL Worldwide Express BD Ltd. She has been working through all HR areas as well as various corporate affairs. She completed her MBA from IBA, Dhaka University.
